What to Expect when Starting a Beauty Salon

By: David Rets

The term spa salon refers to a salon where spa treatments are done. Spa treatments are also offered in some beauty salons. According to industry insiders, the growing popularity of day spas account for the increase in sales on the hair and salon industry. Day spas offer services such as body scrubs, skin lightening, body wrapping, herbal wraps, massage/aromatherapy, derma abrasion, stretch mark and blemishes, anti-aging, facials, makeup, skin care, waxing, polishing, and anti-acne treatments. Unless you live in a big house with room for a salon and in an area with favorable zoning restrictions, you will need to rent space for your business.

Depending on the type of your operations, you may need space anywhere from 500 to 2,000 square feet. You may need to undertake leasehold improvements to your space based on your interior layout, design, and plumbing requirements. You can get new or used salon and spa equipment at wholesale and discount prices that you can afford. Here are a few reasons why your salon might fail inspection(s):Styling stations have not been installed according to codes, Shampoo bowls have not been installed according to codes, Plumbing materials don't pass state board codes, Square footage of your space does not meet minimum requirements, Electrical outlet installations do not meet state board codes, The Salon restroom is not handicap accessible. Why do these bad things happen to good people.

We do not think that luxury is the most important thing to consider when choosing a spa because luxury alone will never protect your skin or make it healthier. Your business name should  accurately describe the product or services you offer, but still retain a memorable 'catch' for marketability purposes. The equipment you buy will depend on the services you offer. Convenience: Salons offering a wide range of services in one setting have a distinct advantage over those who offer only one or two types of services.

Once you have purchased shampoo chairs, basins, dryers, dryer chairs, pedicure and manicure tables, reception room furniture, styling stations and all the necessary supplies you need you can look at the money you have saved and include facial and massage equipment for the specialty services you might want to provide. Even if you are not planning on the specialty services you can incorporate it since you will be spending less money for the basics. In case you didn't know, contractors, electricians, and plumbing services do not come cheap.

Each supplier has its own products and various different treatments. The successful hair and salon business is one that offers excellent service, use quality products, and provide an enjoyable atmosphere at an acceptable price. Your clients must be able to trust that the products and tools that you use on them are of top-notch quality and safe. This includes hair care products, such as shampoos, conditioners, styling aids, treatments for brittle, damaged, oily or dry hair, moisturizers, natural products, scalp conditioners, treatments for dry, thin, dandruff, flaking, itching, weak, and damaged hair, Some of the hair care products you can carry Redken Color Alfa Parf Framesi Salerm Loreal Henna Makiirel Avigal Henna.
